"LANATERM® VAPOR BARRIER

A sustainable and safe LanaTerm® insulation for all.

S.C. RIWOWI LINE S.R.L. is the beneficiary of the project entitled "LANATERM® VAPOR BARRIER," implemented in the locality of Tileagd, Tileagd commune, Crișan Street, No. 63B, Bihor County.

The total value of the project is 1,206,740.31 RON, with a non-repayable amount of 920,560.39 RON, of which 782,476.33 RON is non-repayable funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project implementation period is 19 months, from June 15, 2022, to December 31, 2023.

To address the current challenges in the European construction sector, S.C. RIWOWI LINE S.R.L. aims to develop an innovative product, specifically a vapor barrier made of wool, treated completely naturally and non-toxic for both humans and the environment. The ambitious goal of the company is to replace traditional materials made from synthetic fibers with a natural material composed of 100% sheep wool fiber.

Furthermore, moisture and condensation can become frequent issues in improperly insulated, ventilated, and sealed homes. Condensation occurs when warm and humid air from inside a building enters through cracks into the structure. Therefore, the solution to this problem lies in the innovative concept to be realized, namely the LanaTerm® Vapor Barrier.

The overall objective of the project focuses on the development and testing under real operating conditions (TRL5) of the innovative LanaTerm® Vapor Barrier concept, through investments in research, development, and innovation activities over a period of 13 months.

The specific objectives of the project include developing the company's capacity to introduce innovation at the process and product levels by acquiring specific tangible and intangible assets for research, development, and innovation activities. It also involves the development of the LanaTerm® Vapor Barrier innovative concept through the direct involvement of experts for research, development, and innovation activities, as well as the creation and testing of the innovative product in the laboratory by the project partner, the Institute for Research on Equipment and Technologies in Construction-ICECON. The project also aims to submit documentation for the national/international certification of the innovative product and register the trademark for the wool fiber treatment process through cold plasma activation and nanomaterial coating.

Following the project implementation, the following results were achieved: the development of the innovative product concept - LanaTerm® Vapor Barrier, the hiring of 2 experts within the project's research team, the acquisition of tangible assets - a needle-punching machine, and an intangible asset - software. Additionally, an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification and a trademark were obtained.

Regarding the investment impact, the first notable aspect is the protection of the environment, ecosystems, and biodiversity in the surroundings, considering the raw materials used in this investment. Additionally, there is an increase in the company's visibility due to improved production capacity, cost reduction, and, notably, increased added value of the supplied products.
